On the Beach

Yesterday morning Ryan & I hopped on a plane and headed for the beach! Since we won’t have time for a honeymoon anytime soon after our wedding, we are looking forward to a week of relaxing on the beach (in between all the work we will both be doing during the daytime).

This is our first trip away together and, as I mentioned in last week’s blog post, my first trip leaving both pups with anyone other than my parents. After finalizing our 600+ word note for our gracious dog sitter, Ryan’s brother, it is now time to stop worrying about the pups! Which I am told includes not texting the dog sitter every time I get an alert for severe thunderstorms and tornado watches back home…

While we’re soaking up some rays and enjoying the ocean breeze, I wanted to share some photos from the last beach trip I took that included a dog. This was the trip from a few years ago that I mentioned when I couldn’t bear to leave Lucy behind (yep, I wasn’t kidding about being a helicopter mom). What can I say? It was my 25th birthday & I wanted to spend it with my best friend!

Lucy surveyed traffic on the way to OBX

And thankfully slept most of the way.

It was a good time to work on her leash manners and her “sit/stay”

She also had her first swim…

…And then spent the rest of the trip trying to stay as far away from the waves as possible.

She also tagged along on several difficult trail runs through the local state park. And pretty much made the best beach side kick ever.
